Christians during the first century were on the verge of total hopelessness for good reason. They were being burned at the stake. They were being crucified on crosses. They were being thrown to the lions. And at that very moment in time God gave to the Apostle John a vision of the glory of Jesus Christ to give hope to the hopeless because these early Christians were under stress. They were experiencing pressure just the struggles of everyday life. I’m Anne Graham Lotz and I welcome you to the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove near Asheville North Carolina. It’s situated in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains where we’ve been having a wonderful study on the Book of Revelation. All of us experience stress and suffering and struggle in our everyday lives. And I know how easy it is to lose your focus when you’re under pressure and stress. And God has used the Vision Of His Glory to help me keep my focus on Jesus.
Most of us are intimidated by John’s vision as it’s recorded in the Book of Revelation. We get hung up on the numbers and the symbols and the awesome imagery but the Book of Revelation is not primarily about the future. The first phrase of the book tells us that the book is the revelation of Jesus Christ. It’s the vision of His glory.
This video-based study begins with a workshop in which I share simple tools on how to read God’s Word so you can hear God speaking to you through it. Throughout the rest of the study you will use these tools at home on the assigned passage then gather once a week to discuss what you’ve discovered. Your discussion period will be followed by a video presentation of a message I will give on the same passage you’ve studied and discussed. A video viewers guide has been prepared giving you an outline for the message that will make it easier for you to follow. It’s my heartfelt prayer that the weekly combination of your personal study of God’s Word at home, your group discussion and your attention to the video message would result in your receiving a fresh glimpse of the glory of Jesus Christ. Come join us now as we learn how to listen to the voice of God speaking to us through His Word.
