When things are not going your way, there is always a way to fix your problems – the message behind “Remedy”, a short experimental film shot on the iPhone.
This is a film showcasing that it is easier to overcome certain difficulties than people think – The examples used in the film are when someone is unhappy, something is broken or a relationship is ruptured. The different coloured water to showcases a certain mood or vibe. The way a certain colour, leaves the frame is representative of the way things can get better and improve. There are 4 representations is the film. The first being the face. The face which starts off frowning, obviously is a sign of unhappiness. At this point the blue coloured water ripples over the face. Blue is a colour associated with people being miserable, sad, or dismal. When the frown is then flipped and the face appears to smile, the colour yellow becomes most prominent. Yellow represents sunshine and cheerfulness, hence the smiley face. The second imagery is of a plant that has been cut off. The video is then reversed so the plant heals and as it is reconstructed the blue water fades away leaving the yellow coloured water. There is also a matchstick which has been burnt. The video is also reversed, and the flame gradually disappears while a red coloured water also disappears. This is representative of the way emotions such as anger can be converted into a calmer state of mind. Similarly, the love heart represents love and relationships. The heart was once broken, then in a slow process, it is repaired, just like a relationship between people. In all the examples, it is the transition from negative to positive that is highlighted – this is the essence of the film “Remedy”, which showcases that the healing process is slow and can seem impossible, but with some patience and work, it can be done. Ultimately the message is that, it can be fixed, it can be repaired, you can restore it.
